Why Create A YouTube Channel?

Yep, I started a YouTube Channel. My own kids have been talking about it. Apparently students at my school have YouTube channels so what the heck?! In reality, my curiosity got the best of me.

First, I have always loved connecting with other principals. In 2008 Scott Elias and I hosted the “Practical Principals” podcast. I don’t even remember how long ago it was when I started this blog. I have met some of the most amazing educators and friends through blogging, pod-casting, and social media!

I also like a challenge. I have two amazing teachers that have been doing video announcements all year. The kids love it! The parents love it! The teachers love it! Videos are so fun. These ladies have been so creative.

Questions I have:

• Are there any principal YouTube channels?
• How long are videos?
• What equipment do others use?
• How long does it take to edit?
• What software and apps should I use?
• Is it easier than blogging?
• Can I stick with it?
